Headway Arts Theatre Performance

21st January 2016
Three of Headway Arts’ talented performers are taking to the stage at Live Theatre next month in Always the Bridesmaid.
Always the Bridesmaid is a unique Headway Arts and Live Theatre co-production. Written by Olivier Award winning Mike Kenny and designed and directed by Headway Arts Creative Director Allie Walton Robson, Always the Bridesmaid is a comedy-drama that looks at who gets to be the star of the show and why.
Set at a boisterous and occasionally rowdy wedding, the play is performed by an integrated cast of learning disabled actors from Headway Arts’ Theatre Company and young actors from Live’s Youth Theatre working together.
It is part of Headway Arts’ wider New Worlds programme, funded by Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts, which creates platforms for the work of learning disabled artists and champions inclusive creative practice.
Director of Always the Bridesmaid Allie Walton Robson says, “We're delighted to have been able to commission the wonderful Mike Kenny who has written this challenging but funny piece especially for us and it’s great to be performing at Live Theatre working with their amazing youth theatre. It is exactly the kind of platform we aimed to create with our New Worlds project - enabling us to put the work of learning disabled artists centre stage. And if you love a good wedding and all the drama that it brings - you'll love our show "

Always the Bridesmaid asks if looking for perfect gets in the way of seeing humanity. If you ever had regrets about what you wore, how much you drank and who you danced with, this one’s for you!
Buy your tickets to see it on the 19th and 20th February here: http://www.live.org.uk/whats-on-book/always-the-bridesmaid
