Engagement

The Engagement Pathway is for pupils who are not yet accessing subject-specific learning and who benefit from a highly personalised approach built around their individual strengths, needs and priorities.
Learning focuses on developing the foundations that enable pupils to engage successfully with the world around them. This includes communication, emotional regulation, engagement, independence, social interaction and life and living skills. Pupils learn through carefully structured routines, meaningful experiences and opportunities to explore, anticipate, persist, initiate and respond.
Individual learning priorities are closely linked to each pupil’s EHCP and Personal Learning Intention Map (PLIM). Progress is viewed holistically and recognises that learning may not always be linear. Our aim is to help every pupil become an increasingly confident communicator, active participant and independent learner, able to use and generalise their developing skills across school, home and the wider community.
